Today is my 4 week post op anniversary. I'm down a total of 60 pounds as of today, so i was very pleased with that. I can now fit into blue jeans size 28, which is amazing, I love jeans but haven't been able to wear any for the past 5 years, except for those fake stretchy ones that don't even have a button and zipper.
I've been on solids now for a week, one thing i noticed is my first meal i fill up really quickly, only can take a few bites and I'm full, i can eat a little more later in the day, but still not much. I've been eating ground turkey, haven't tried ground hamburger meat yet, the ground turkey seems OK, I'm sure I'll give ground hamburger a chance soon see if i can tolerate it or even like it, I'm fine with the ground turkey for now. Also been eating string cheese, or slices of cheddar cheese, and thinly sliced sand which meat, i make roll ups with the sand which meat and the string cheese i tear strings off and put it in the sand which meat, i can eat about two of those and not even use the entire string cheese either and I'm full. I still haven't tried toasted bread yet, I've done crackers and it does seem to fill me up a bit faster so i try not to have to many, just like 2 saltines, or 4 wheat thins. I've made a lasagna without the noodles, and I've made enchiladas without the tortillas, and both were pretty good and went down easy, could only eat about 2-3 tbsp. I always have a glass of water or cool aide sweetened with splenda or something low calorie/zero calorie by my side to drink. It's been a little trying getting used to eating without drinking though, I've been good not taking a sip with every bite, but i do have a sip or two of water after i finish eating, just to wash it down, it does make me feel a little fuller too, but i only do that if i ate something that has pieces leftover that didn't go down, cause ewww i hate that feeling, other then that i try to wait, my doc has me waiting 30 minutes after i eat to drink, so that's not as bad as some people. Oh my hunger has not gone away, I get hungry alot, and not head hunger, my belly actually growling, and yes i drink something, and only sometimes does that do the trick, other times it's telling me to eat....I did read online somewhere don't remember where of course that the hunger part for some people takes awhile to go away, so of course I'm one of those "lucky" people. Right now I'm not on any certain eating plans, like times of day or how many times or anything, my doctor just told me to try different things see what and how much i can eat, and then after awhile i have to work my way down to just 3 meals a day. Right now it seems 3 meals a day would be very very very low in calorie and protein, cause i can barely eat anything, i probably have 4-5 very small meals right now and still only get in about 700-800 calories. I've been trying to be good with my protein shakes, i have so many samples that I'm trying to go through to find the perfect ones, cause I'll get bored if i just have one flavor every day, i hate the same thing every day. I know i like the click mocha but i can only handle 1 scoop not the serving size of 2 cause its a bit strong, and i have to add a little extra milk too, but its pretty good. I did find a chocolate one i like too, I'm having a strawberry unjury flavored one today, and well I'm not getting a big container of this stuff, i personally don't really like it that much, it has a funky aftertaste.
Oh one new thing i noticed that i thought was pretty cool is i can just almost put my hand around my entire wrist, so its getting smaller, which is neat. Also I've been going through all my old clothes from when i was 300 back when i met my hubby, I had so many still with tags that i never got a chance to wear, so many cute outfits, so I'm really excited to get to wear them, even though i know it won't be for long cause I'll be shrinking and get to buy even more cute outfits.
This pic is from when i was 20 years old, i was 250, had lost 80 pounds since i had graduated high school in 1999. It was my lowest weight I've been since elementary school, i was 200 pounds in 5th grade and believe me that was not fun at all.
This is a pic of me and my hubby on our wedding day, November 13, 2006.
i'm so happy your doing well.. only thing i can tell ya that i learned from my nutritionist is forget eating crackers and all the other stuff.. just work on getting in your required proteins every day.. as long as you do that, use the other things as a snack item.. i found the click powder on amazon.. i love coffee so i am gonna try it.. which ones have you tried? mocha or vanilla? if both, which do you prefer?
